Saynote Privacy Policy

Saynote is made by Mochu. Your notes and recordings stay on your device. Our servers keep only what is needed to count transcription quota. This page explains what leaves the device, where it goes, how long it is kept, and how to delete it.

Data that stays on your device

• Audio recordings, transcripts, every rewritten or translated version, and your hot-word list.
• None of this syncs to our servers. Uninstalling the app removes all of it. Inside the app you can delete a note, a version, or just the audio at any time, or erase everything under Settings → Data → Clear All Data.
• iCloud backups are managed by iOS and your Apple Account. We cannot access them.

Data uploaded to Mochu's cloud service

Transcription, dictation, rewriting and translation are performed by Mochu's own cloud service; Mochu is the recipient of the data. Before you use any of these features for the first time, the app shows a Cloud Service Notice explaining what is uploaded and to whom, and asks for your consent. If you decline, nothing is uploaded; recording, editing and exporting keep working.

• Audio: when you tap Transcribe or use Dictate, the recording is uploaded over an encrypted connection to Mochu's cloud and converted to text. The app requests deletion as soon as processing finishes, and a server-side expiry rule cleans up anything left behind. We do not keep audio.
• Text: when you use Rewrite or Translate, the relevant text is uploaded to Mochu's cloud to produce the result and is not retained.
• Uploaded content is used only to fulfil your request, never for model training, profiling or advertising. To keep the service reliable we may engage qualified cloud computing and storage providers for infrastructure; they are bound by contract to process data only on our instructions, may not retain or reuse it, and must protect it to a standard no lower than this policy. The app does not integrate any third-party AI service directly and contains no third-party keys.

Data kept on our servers

Recording, editing, exporting and deleting need no account. Only Transcribe and Rewrite / Translate require signing in, and the account exists solely to track quota.

• User ID: the anonymous identifier issued by Apple when you use Sign in with Apple, the only sign-in method. We store no passwords.
• Email address: kept only if you choose to share your real or Apple-relayed email at sign-in, and used to identify the account.
• Quota and subscription: remaining transcription time, subscription status, and App Store transaction and notification records kept for financial reconciliation, for at most 730 days.

No note content and no audio are stored on our servers.

What we do not do

• We do not track you or share data with third parties for advertising or analytics. The app contains no advertising or analytics SDK.
• We do not collect location, contacts, photos, health data, browsing or search history, or crash diagnostics.
• We do not use your content to train models.

Deleting your account

Settings → Account → Delete Account takes effect immediately: the account and quota records are deleted, the Sign in with Apple authorization is revoked, and personal data is anonymized after a 30-day retention period. Notes and audio on your device are unaffected.

Children

Saynote is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

Updates are posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes are announced in the app.
